Video Intermission: “Her” by Majid Jordan
Video Intermission: “Apparently” by J. Cole
The new J. Cole. Writing on that Forest Hills Drive (out now!). The uplifting & deeply personal “Apparently” has J. Cole confronting his thoughts in dark empty rooms with video screens. Truth.
If you’re not feeling the beginning…which I’d say, da f*ck…wait until verse three. Showcases the wild moments that you’ll receive on the record. Hope you can keep up.

Video Intermission: “Masterpiece” by Jessie J
Morning! Jessie J continues to work on her “Masterpiece”. It’s a track about bashing away criticism & being her own women. The video follows Jessie over the course of the day. From when she awakes till she ends the day dancing with all her fans. Which can be quite revealing (see below)…

Video Intermission: “Only” by Nicki Minaj (feat. Drake, Lil Wayne, & Chris Brown)
Hut. Hut!
Being trapped in Roman’s sex prison doesn’t look that bad. Just lose all the dudes, allow more whips, & keep Nicki Minaj in that outfit. Got me like. The verses on this one are top notch. Watching Drake rap to Nicki will make you laugh out loud. Otherwise, kind of video you expect from YMCMB.

Video Intermission: “War” by The Devil Wears Prada
Audio Interlude: “Earned It” by The Weeknd
Mr. XO will see you now.
The Weeknd set the internet on fire last night by offering his contribution to the much anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey Soundtrack. The track incorporates the filmic strings to present a pretty conventional love song. Sure the track feels a bit darker in tone based on the subject matter. But I was expecting something viciously sexy based off the hype. Consider this track more PG-13 than NC-17.
Yes…valid complaint.

Video Intermission: “You And Your Friends” by Wiz Khalifa (feat. Ty Dolla Sign & Snoop Dogg)
Video Intermission: “Sober” by Childish Gambino
Damn. This is a great video.
Childish Gambino already won me over with his STN MTN / Kauai Mixtape last year. Kauai’s first track, Sober or how I put it as Michael Jackson’s unreleased Off The Wall single of 3005, now has some very clever visuals premiered on NPR.
In it, a disorientated Donald Glover woos a girl at a cafe with a cascade of impressive moves expressing the track. “Sober” is paced wonderfully that it all works wonders in a MJ “Way You Make Me Feel” sort of way.
This type of courtship might only work when you’re “So High”. Still anything is worth a shot, right? Look forward to ‘Sober” spawning some great viral videos.

Video Intermission: “Talking Body” by Tove Lo
I speak body fluently. Assume The Queen of the Clouds does as well. Still not sure what to make of these elaborate artistic visuals. Seems Tove Lo was inspired by one take wonder BIRDMAN, materializing a complicated world on a empty stage.
Hard not to fall down the rabbit hole when the music fits the mood perfectly.

Video Intermission: “Mona Lisa” by Dead Sara
Time to get re-DEAD-icated.
Dead Sara have unveiled their debut single & video from their upcoming Pledge Music funded – Pleasure To Meet You. Became addicted by verse 3 of “Mona Lisa”…when Emily loses it…and immediately had to rewind it back.
If this is your first taste of Dead Sara. Stand up and take a big sip of their vintage LA grunge rock stylizing that blew me away back in 2012. Can’t wait for their sophomore record to arrive in March!

Video Intermission: “Earned It” by The Weeknd
Video Intermission: “Day Go By” by Karen O
Karen O provided her Crush Song – “Day Go By” – for a short film by the artists known as wiissa. The project was a dream come true as the music, lyrics, and visuals paint this wonderful two-minute story. Can’t help but love it’s brevity.

Video Intermission: “Love Me Like You Do” by Ellie Goulding
Only posting this because I know Ms. Beale would want me to. It’s hard not to break character after all.
Please enjoy Ellie Goulding’s soon to be smash Fifty Shades soundtrack hit – “Love Me Like You Do” – that features some great loving looks from Ms. Goudling. Bravo on her dancing chops too. Giving Ed Sheeran a run for his money? Oh flames.

Video Intermission: “Detroit Vs. Everybody” by Eminem, Royce da 5’9″, Big Sean, Danny Brown, Dej Loaf, & Trick Trick
Detroit!
Eminem brought all his friends back home for the epic “Detroit Vs. Everybody” visuals. You get all the spits in gorgeous grey filters as Eminem, Royce da 5’9″, Big Sean, Danny Brown, Dej Loaf, & Trick Trick do lyrical damage all around their city. The track is still slick. Happy Friday!

Video Intermission: “Lie, Cheat, Steal” by Run The Jewels
Hey, every body doing it.
Run The Jewels continue their radio domination with the stylish new “Lie, Cheat, Steal” video. It’s E-LP & Killer Mike rapping and creating animated sound waves with each line. Can’t really say much about it. The track murdered me three lines ago. These words are just residual…………..#MeowTheJewels

Video Intermission: “Only One” by Kanye West (feat. Paul McCartney)
If this gets pulled above, click here to watch on EllenTube!
Kanye West’s motherly love song to North West from his late mother now has a darkly sweet visual. The track is altered when it enters video form. Most have been getting the “feels” as you witness Kanye & North West walking side by side through the mist.
Directed by Spike Jonze

Video Intermission: “Right Here, Right Now” by Giorgio Moroder (feat. Kylie Minogue)
I will, Kylie. Damn give me a sec.
Giorgio Moroder picked one hell of a muse for his post-Daft Punk resurgence. “Right Here, Right Now” is already a european club banger and the included music video is gonna cause feedback here in the states. It’s disco at it’s poppy best. Most of our readers will get a kick out of it…if you haven’t already.
Directed by Daniel Börjesson

Video Intermission: “Broken Generation” by Of Mice & Men
Can you hear them calling?
Of Mice & Men are adding new life into their 2014 LP – Restoring Force. The now slated, Restoring Force: Full Circle, includes a handful of new tracks which fans will absolutely love.
Treat yourself to new visuals for “Broken Generation” which is one of the bonus track. The guys go hard while preaching about our reliance on technology…I guess?
